Rules
- Dogs will be grouped into 3 sizes, small, medium, and large by the committee. Each size will be a separate category where dogs of similar sizes will race one another.
- All dogs on the ground must be on a leash except when racing. If the dog is not on a leash the handler and dog will be asked to leave the fairgrounds.
- Any dog that is aggressive will also be asked to leave. Fighting is not accepted!
- Each dog will have a judge with a stopwatch timing that dog. Time will start at the word GO. The time stops when the dog crosses the finish line. The fastest 3 dogs from all heats in each category will come back to the final race on Sunday.
- In the case of a tie for 3rd hole both dogs will be taken to the finals
- There will be heats for each dog size small, medium, and large with no more than 6 dogs in each heat. The number of heats will depend on how many dogs are signed up for each size of dog.
- A $5.00 entry fee will be paid by the owner
Race:
- There will be a dog handler and a dog caller.
- Dog handler is in charge of keeping his or her dog on a leash until the race is ready to start. When the countdown from 3 begins the handler will unleash their dog and must hold on to the collar until the handler hears GO.
- At the GO the handler will release the dog. False starts will be disqualified by the line judge.
- Dog caller will be at the finish line with leash to catch the dog after it has finished the race.
- All dogs will need to be leashed at the finish line. Failure to catch the dog and have them on the leash can also be a disqualification. Time judge will make that decision.
